One of the goals of the automotive industry is to reduce administrative and logistical overheads that do not add value to the final product. The use of EDI addresses this challenge by simplifying, automating, accelerating, and ensuring the reliability of information flows between partners. EDI guarantees the interoperability of these flows. While EDI is widely used between manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers, it continues to expand to Tier 2 suppliers and vendors. As a support for logistics processes, EDI standards adapt to the constantly evolving operational methods. The development of Industry 4.0 further increases the use of this information exchange technology.
